Help our father (stage 4) get an at home RN

Donation protected
Dear Ones, I am fundraising for my father, Josè Leonardo Martins, 74 years young, a husband, a grandfather, fadista and just an amazing all around standup guy. To know him, is to love him - just ask his friends and family. We are fundraising to help him have an at home RN (registered nurse). Our father suffers from Stage 4 salivary glad cancer. He has been beating his cancers ass for a year and a half now defeating his first doctors odds - he tends to do that. Did I mention he’s our superhero? It’s time for us to tag team and fight the rest of his battle for him. Unfortunately, due to Covid, his insurance doesn’t allow the proper at home care he needs and we simply don’t have the funds on our own. This has been a very difficult time for everyone. Sometimes our best doesn’t seem fair or good enough. Recently, our father was rushed to the hospital on November 18th. He underwent cardiac arrest, while being resuscitated they fractured his ribs. He was then placed in an induced comma. We had no idea what would happen next. The doctors believed he would never leave the hospital and come home. With Covid, we were not allowed to visit. He was alone, beat up and heart broken . All he wanted was to be reunited with his family. Did I mention he’s a bad ass? Well he beat those odds because he’s our dad! Nothing was going to stop his final wish of being home with his loved ones - NOTHING - not even you covid. As beautiful as my dad is - his cancer is that unkind and ugly. That’s a lot of ugly. Now that he’s been home for a few days and has faced certain complications with his tracheostomy (that we are frantically trying to learn how to perform ourselves as regular folk) and availability of RNs from his hospice team and lack of night care, we know what our father needs and we are trying to make that happen. We will never give up as he has never given up on us. We are tired. This tag team won’t break - will you join our team? Currently, we do 24 hour care ourselves (and at times have urgent situations that are way above us - we are stressed and scared to say the least). The lack of sleep is taking a toll on us and if we break our team breaks. We want as much time with our father as possible and he deserves the best of us, not pieces of us. We need help. We need support. We need an RN. It’s expensive because it’s a hard job. My dad.... he deserves it - AND MORE! Money should never ever stop someone from receiving the proper healthcare they need - ever! My dad has not come this far for this. We truly believe in the power of kindness. We know although a difficult time for many right now that no act of kindness is too small - every act of support is felt - even your prayers if you are unable to donate to the cause. If you or anyone you know is able to donate anything they can to help our father and family during this time, it would be greatly appreciated x10 to infinity and beyond no backs. He has fought a good fight... WE ARE MARTINS - WE ARE OUR FATHERS DAUGHTERS! We can and we will. Thank you all for your willingness and time, God bless you and yours. Stay safe!
