Help Felix Live A Longer Life

Donation protected
Hello, This is Tiffany reaching out for my 3-legged cat Felix.

I got Felix when I was 6 years old from my Dad as a surprise. He knew I would be the one to take care of this special kitty since at the time he had a gimp leg that later got amputated. Now seventeen years later Felix has been by my side every step of the way. He is more than just a cat to myself and family. Felix is my baby boy and according to my mom her grandson. Felix has been there for me whenever I needed someone. We grew up together, built a bond with each other, and now I can’t imagine a life without him.

Three years ago, Felix had a seizure for unknown reasons. Up until then for 13 years he had perfect health. I got a Care credit card that I have been slowly paying off for his hospitalization since it cost me over $1,000 since then I only use it for his vet appointments since they can get pricey. At the beginning of this year Felix lost a lot of teeth and the vet discovered cancer in his mouth. He had to get a $700 surgery to get the cancer removed along with a dental exam. Before this surgery I asked the vet if it would be worth it since he is so old and that’s a lot of money. I gladly will spend it if it keeps my baby boy around longer if he isn’t suffering. She reassured me by saying he will live until his twenties if he puts on more weight. She suggested switch his diet to canned cat food for senior cats and buying this gel stuff that has extra nutrients he needs. I did what she said along with feeding him chicken, tuna and, keeping his dry cat food out if he wants it. I feed Felix a can of food whenever he goes crazy, but I noticed he struggles eating it still and only licks out the gravy. As of a month ago, Felix got a yeast infection in his ears, so I had to bring him in since I thought he had ear mites. Found out I was wrong but got the medication he needed but the bad news that he still isn’t putting on weight. He now less than 7lbs where last year he was 13lbs. My heart broke hearing this news so the vet check to see if he had thyroids but the test came out negative. She said it could be a lung or stomach problem but said to hold off until his ears get better because that could affect his eating.

Now, Felix’s ears are healed but he still isn’t gaining weight with new diet. He is also having a hard time breathing it seems like because he sounds congested and breathing his mouth a lot more. I want to help him get better but with COVID-19 putting me out of work and me using all the money I could on him to the point of now I am in debt. I am left asking you guys to help me help him which is the hardest thing for me to do since I never been a person to ask for help. I just don’t want him to die because I couldn’t afford to do anything and make him suffer. I am still preparing myself for the bad news of having to put him down, but I don’t think I could ever be prepared for that day. My heart is breaking for seeing him like this because he went for completely healthy to sick out of nowhere and I can’t even do anything to help.

When he does die, I would like to cremate him and get a special memory box to keep him forever. I just put $1,000 for the goal because I honestly don’t know how this vet appointment will go and how many more could be to come with the risk of him having cancer. Plus, his new deity is pricey with me buying the cheap end of canned cat food and I feel like better quality could help. He’s overall getting expensive to have but you can’t give up on family.

Felix never gave up on me and I don’t want to give up on him unless the vet says it’s time for him to go. Anything to help him stay around longer or at least be seen to find out what’s going on will be appreciated.
