Help an Evicted Latina Trans Woman Find a New Home

Donation protected
Update, 11/18/2020: I’ve said this many times now, but I am BEYOND flattered that so many people helped me reach my initial goal of $2,500 so quickly. As stated prior, this will be enough for me to secure a new home, moving costs, and life sustainability for about 2-3 months. Thank you all very much for helping me with that. That being said, many friends have reached out to me to encourage raising the goal for the sake of creating a safety net that would keep afloat for at least 6 months. It took some convincing, but they helped me realize that at a time of job scarcity in an area with inherit lack of protections for trans employers, doubling the goal + the period of grace while I search is essential in order for me to attain long-term sustainability. Therefore I’ll continue sharing this, accepting donations, and updating everyone on my moving process, but know that I am safe and secure for around 2 months now, and I’m extremely grateful for that. Thank you all once again Hi everyone, my name is Viviane, though most know me as Vi or Vivi. I am a 25 year old Latina trans woman who has lived in Gainesville, FL for over 7 years, and I am currently facing an eviction and have to leave my current home by December 15th. On top of the inherit challenges to finding employment as a musician and service worker, AS WELL as an immigrant, and as well as a trans woman, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this year overwhelmingly difficult for me to stay afloat. I haven’t had access to stable employment since March and recently lost a job in October for reasons that were never detailed to me. I wish I could feel certain that my visibility as a trans woman was not a factor in me being fired, but you all likely have an idea of how it goes in this town/state/country/world. Friends and family have helped me with money for food, meds, and bills multiple times this year, but part of me always felt too guilty to ask for enough to cover my rent. Now that I am being forced to move because of my inability to pay said rent, I am asking for help to get me through my upcoming move and the couple of months ahead while I continue looking for work. I am currently estimating $2500 to be a sustainable amount for this process. I am looking at apartments with a maximum budget of $500 a month and want to be prepared to pay the last month and a deposit when I move, if needed. At the time of writing this, I have a scheduled job interview in the following morning and I feel positive about it, but the remainder of the goal that wouldn’t cover the moving in costs and rent + utilities, will be reserved as a safety net for basic needs like food, medication, and other groceries, in case that the job search continues being difficult. I deeply appreciate every single person who has extended any support to me this year. Financially speaking, this is without a doubt the hardest year I’ve had to survive. I know that that applies to many, which is why I don’t take your help lightly. Please donate what you can, share the page, and know that I am very grateful.
