Hi everyone,

The Philippines has been hit by three successive typhoons. In late October, Typhoon Molave was the 18th tropical cyclone in the Philippines this year. It was soon followed by Super Typhoon Rolly/Goni in early November, the most powerful typhoon in the world in 2020. These recent events displaced more than 400,000 Filipinos, forcing many to seek shelter at evacuation centers as their homes were lost to flooding and landslides. The Philippines also has the second-highest COVID-19 cases in Southeast Asia, and these tumultuous times are amplifying the difficulties many are facing.

Not even two weeks later, Typhoon Vamco/Ulysses uprooted these same communities and surrounding areas, displacing 180,000 more people. There are currently 411 flooded areas, 519 areas without electricity, 104 areas without telecommunication services.

This being said, I am urging you to please donate to this GoFundMe. I will be fundraising for Pakainin ang buong Barangay, an organization I have closely worked with in the past (see my recent COVID-19 GoFundMe here: https://gf.me/u/ymj4wk). Pakainin's soup kitchen will focus on feeding thousands a day in the Marikina area. The money you donate will be used to buy ingredients such as meats, vegetables, cooking oils, eggs, condiments, etc.

On Pakainin's first day (11/13/2020) in Tumana, Marikina, they helped prepare 1,500 meals. They hope to provide at least 2,000 meals on 11/14/2020. Please consider donating to continue their efforts and help feed even more people in need. If you are unable to donate, please share this with your family and friends.
