26yo Veteran loses arm

 

Blake Anthony Gordon, a 26 year old veteran and former Tank Commander for the US Army who served for 5 years was recently in a tragic accident involving a train. The morning of September 15, 2021 Blake lost his right arm as well as significant ongoing complications with his right foot. He has undergone 2 surgeries with more to come.

 

Blake lives a very active lifestyle including his favorite hobbies of rock climbing, riding scooters around KC, parkour, traveling, swimming, doing back flips, fishing, wake boarding and grew up always wrestling. He enjoys going to chiefs games, royals games and is always living life on the edge and going on adventures.

 

Because of his active lifestyle he is eager and ready to get back into normal life. With this being said the recovery will be quite a bit of time before being able to achieve any of this but he is so ready to go through the process and do whatever is necessary to get back to full function.

 

He has undergone 2 surgeries thus far and will have multiple surgeries as the doctors have to do a multi stage process for the bones, tissues and skin for his right foot. The doctors will work on skin grafts for his arm and foot as well as pins and reconstruction for his right foot. This will be a long process.

 

Blake is currently an employee at SelectQuote and is living in an apartment in downtown KC which will be on hold until he is complete with recovery. Although this will be on hold, the finances will not be.

 

We are asking for financial support to go towards on-going rent, lost wages from inability to work, medical bills and the ability to purchase a prosthetic arm in the coming months. The prosthetic arm will give Blake the ability to recover with some functions of a right arm that will best suit his lifestyle.

 

As a family, we ask that you would join us in praying for Blake as he will face adversities, frustrations and victories. Pray for the doctors, nurses and surgeons that will be overseeing Blake and working on him to get him better. Pray for our family. Pray for healing. Pray for wisdom and discernment for all. Pray for guidance. Pray for a clear and optimistic mindset. Pray for spiritual, emotional and physical strength to overcome this. Pray for finances to allow him to have no other worries except to heal. And finally pray for a quick and miraculous recovery. These tasks will be none the less challenging but with a mighty God who has given Blake the will to take this on, anything is possible and Blake is more than ready to begin.
