Help Amelia Get Her Panic Attacks Under Control

Donation protected
Greetings family and friends,You may not be aware, but Amelia is really struggling. Her life before COVID, Racial Tensions and Attacks on her and her father, her father losing his job and sinking into a depression, an emergent oral surgery, when she went under anesthesia, she needed due to a genetic issue, and online school was vibrant and full of things she loved. She was active, social, creative, excited about life and had future goals, yes, even at 8 years old ;) During this time, she has gotten worse and worse. She has such high levels of anxiety that she bites her finger nails until they bleed, has panic attacks ranging from mild to severe every day, cant get to sleep and struggles to stay asleep, waking up in panics, has horrible dreams and has started making statements like "if this is the way the world is, I dont want to live in it" while sobbing. She says she has no more real friends due to racial conflicts and the protests as well as strict social distancing and mask wearing which she has a sensory and breathing reaction to. She is scared to leave the house and if she leaves, she wants to come right back home quickly and she doesnt like to have her camera on during her online class time. She attempted a sleepover at a friend's house that she has been in a learning pod of two with and I had to rush over and pick her up, because her panic attack was so bad, she had trouble breathing. When I brought her to the doctor about her panic attacks and trouble sleeping, her doctor said it was really serious and recommended counseling and medication. Unfortunately, Amelia is very stressed about the idea of going to counseling and I dont want to resort to medication as a first step. I decided to ask her doctor for a prescription for an emotional support animal, since our landlord doesnt allow pets otherwise and it just came through.Due to mounting medical bills for her and for me related to my spinal issue (neurologists and spinal injections are not cheap and I need surgery), and the fact that Ernie is still out of work due to COVID, I would have to wait about 6 months before I could make the animal (she wants a kitty) and some art therapy or other alternative that works for her a reality (we may need to try multiple things until we find what is right for her).It just kills me to think she will continue to suffer in this way for that long and that we may run the risk of it getting bad enough for strong medication and g*d forbid a hospital stay. She has already been racking up so many traumatic experiences to work through and recover from. So, here I am, swallowing my pride and asking for help. Would you be willing to contibute to this fund to help Amelia avoid going down an even darker path at such a young age? Any funds collected will go to a support animal first and then to try other therapies that are needed. I am not sharing this gofundme with her for now, as the attention, highlighting her struggles would upset her, but I will absolutely share any messages you post with her and let her know how loved she is and that she is not alone. And will post updates and pictures on this site. Positive messages welcome in addition to or in lieu of donations. I believe in the power of collective good wishes/prayers etc. Thank you for being part of her community and prayers for all of you and your families, may you all be safe, happy, and well ❤ Peace, Peace, PeaceLakshmi Bhaktirose
