Support For Chris and Rachel Marek

I have known Chris for over 20 years, and some of the best memories in my life are with him. We worked together, spent countless hours fishing or hunting, and walked through tough times together. He is more like family than a friend. Below is an excerpt from Chris’s Caringbridge site describing his situation. “On October 1st Chris became very ill only to find out he was in liver failure. He is in need of a liver transplant which he has been placed on the UNOs transplant list here in Houston, Texas with a MELD score of 40, which is the highest the MELD score goes. Chris is currently in the surgical and liver ICU at Houston Methodist. Before having a 10 hour transplant surgery Chris is having a stent placed in his left artery. For 30 days he must be on anticoagulant drugs to prevent clotting of the stent.” Chris has a long road to recovery. He will be in Houston for at least 4 months, but likely to be longer. Rachel is staying in Houston with him, and family and friends are helping out with the kids back in Seguin. As you can imagine, the medical expenses and the costs of staying in Houston are all adding up. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help Chris and Rachel with the medical expenses and related costs to Chris’s liver transplant and recovery.
