Funding for Study Abroad in Ghana,
My name is Donald Hayes, I'm a native of Port Arthur, Texas and a recent graduated of Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas. I am a current Sophomore Religion major at the illustrious Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, which is the Alma Mata of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
During my tenure at Morehouse College, I have been afforded many opportunities and privileges. On campus I currently serve as a peer counselor for the Morehouse College Counseling Resource Center, also being a license minister have found my place on campus as a part of the distinguish Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel Assistant and as a Chapel Assistant, where I traveled with the College's Chapel on a "World Peace Tour" in Tokyo, Japan, during the dates of August 2-11, 2012.
Recently, I have just been notified of my acceptance into the Morehouse Pan African Global Experience study abroad in Ghana, West Africa, May - June 2013, to study Pan Africanism as Cross -Cultural Dialogue and African and African Diaspora Familes. Having this opportunity to study aboard, I will be exposed to a very different way of life. It is designed to provide me with a unique window into the challenges of global citizenship through cross cultural dialogue, with insight from the African philosophical heritage of African American experience. It will also give me the opportunity to reconnect to my African roots, and exposure the Ghanian peoples customs, traditions, faith practices, and ways of life.
Therefore, my reason for contacting you is to ask for your financial assistance to help with expenses and fees that are necessary in making this life changing experience a success. The total cost for this life changing endevor is $5,550;this includes program cost, tution, airfare, and lodging accomodation. Your contributions whether large or small are needed and welcomed; this trip will give me the opportunity to come back with experience that may promote positive change among the youth of my hometown Port Arthur and in the Greater Metro Atlanta.
