Help Me Pay Rent for Nov., While I Find A New Job!

Donation protected
I want to thank everyone who donated to help me move out! I eventually did pay for my classes! I had to drop this semester unfortunately with a lot of personal matters that had occured. I recently was working a new job for a company called Sage International to do marketing and sales. It wasn't my cup of tea. I went into a deep negative balance because I had to keep taking the NJ transit to get to my job. I had to quit because of the traveling expenses. In addition, my salary was commission-based with no base pay. I didn't think it was worth it because I prefer a consistent salary. My rent is $1000 a month. I have had no luck lately with any new jobs sadly. I'm still looking and still applying. I just need help with this month’s rent and groceries. I'm confident I will find a job this month! I also have acquired 2 new kittens that I'm currently taking care of. I need to buy them food and litter as well! Lastly, I'm deep in a negative balance which is why the goal is set to $2000! Thank you and I appreciate you all!!! --------------------------------------------- The Title of the original GoFundMe was ”Help Me Move out and Enroll for Classes.” This was the original statement as well. ”My name is Hennessy and I am a protester/organizer. I have my own organization called Unlearning Racism Together. I am a representative for the NYC Students for Justice. I just got accepted to be the volunteer coordinator for the Black Chef Movement. I love the work I have done and the opportunities that have been given to me. I’m humbled by the amount of support and amplification of my platform. These last few months have been life-changing and amazing. Unfortunately, my activism is hindered by my toxic home situation. On top of my home-situation, my school situation is getting rough as well.

Context: I’ve been told what I “couldn’t” do all the time. I’ve told that I “belong to the streets.” I’ve dealt with racist, homophobic, and transphobic remarks said about people I care about. I’ve been fighting for something I truly believe in and I feel brought down and like I am nothing every time I try having these tough conversations. I’m tired. My parents and I do not align in regards to ideology and morals. I can respectfully disagree with someone, but I can’t teach them empathy. They have gotten mad at me for protesting, coming home late for protesting, my passion for BLM, etc. My parents don’t even care about the work I’ve put into this movement. I’m tired of breaking down, having panic attacks, and not being able to sleep.

I am asking money for the following reasons:

1. My school called SUNY ESF has a partnership with Syracuse University. I’m a transfer student and don’t know how things work. I recently paid ESF $3,000 on my own. Syracuse University charges ESF students for the conjoined meal plan. I owe Syracuse $3,144. If I don’t pay it off, I can’t apply for my Fall courses for ESF. I thought I start school August 28th, but I start online courses the 24th. It’s a weird situation because I thought everything would be charged to ESF under one bill. The relationship both schools have with one another is a mess.

2. I still love my parents, but I need to move out. I currently don't have the privacy to do my online schooling because I share a room. I don't mind sharing a room with my little brother.  However, because of COVID I don't have access to a library or a cafe to focus on my online schooling. I have been hoping to live in a temporary apartment that is being subleased for 4-5months (that’s how long the semester is). Then during this semester, I will be working on finding an apartment for the Spring semester. If I can’t move out now then I’ll put all the money towards my apartment for next semester. I want to find a place to stay in Syracuse to finish my schooling. I normally live in a dorm, but it’s time I get my own place and allow myself to be completely independent. I want a space that allows me to do some self actualization, healing and growth. Of course I’ll be working. I need the money to give me a head start on this.

I’ve been working three jobs since my freshman year. I also haven’t stayed a full summer in NYC for three years because of things like my summer research program, a STEM camp that I was a program assistant for, etc. This is first summer I’ve stayed in NYC in years. I paid many things off on my own and while at school I work to to pay off my loans early and to support my basic needs. I lost all my jobs at school because of COVID.

Any donations are welcomed!”
