Hi, my name is Christopher and Im Rick Dogs daddy. Rick Dog is a 7 year old black Lab/Boxer mix. He and his little brother Hup are rescues that Ive had for most of their lives. Im all they know now and they are My World.
Rick Dog has had a years long battle with ear mites in his left ear. The vets Ive taken him to have tried so many different things Ive lost track of the number but none have been wholely successful. The different meds would elliminate the mites within days of treatment but without fail, theyd return within a week or two. Always just in his left ear. Sometimes the onset would be so fast and so intense it would make him crazy and he would race through the house banging his head violantly on the floor, walls and furniture to the point whered Id have to tackle him and restrain him and rush him to the vet.
This last time the Pet Armor Ear Mite Treatment got rid of the mites from his ear very quickly but they didnt die. They apparently went out onto his head and he immediately developed what appeared to be Mange on the entire left side of his face up onto most of the top of his head. The vet gave him a sulfated lime treatment twice that only made it worse. He now has several large oozing infected areas and hes in a great deal of misery. Suddenly the vet has finally agreed with my thoughts about his condition...
ITS NOT MANGE! ITS NOT MITES!! This has been going on only in his left ear FOR YEARS and this time when it became what the doctor said was Mange, it didnt transfer to myself or to Hup and the infection is UNDER the skin, not on it so now they want to do bloodwork and a biopsy to determine whats really happening to my boy.
A little over two years ago I was diagnosed with Lupus and a month later with cancer in my spleen. Im permanently disabled, my savings is gone, I sold my farm and bought an awful little dump on the edge of Maywood Missouri thinking that we would be ok with the leftover money from the farm sale until I got my social security but Im still fighting SSA and the money is gone. I have no living family and basically no friends now. No one wants to be around someone they know is going to die. I get $120/week in unemployment that will run out in three more weeks. Im out of options and ideas. I cant even get a loan because Im considered a bad risk because Im terminal. But Rick Dog isnt!! Him and Hup are all I have and all I really care about. I cant come up with the vet money. I cant even pay utility bills anymore.
Please help me save my boy. I dont care if I spend the rest of time here without heat or lights, as long as I have my boys and theyre happy and healthy and i can watch them run and play. Theyre all that matters to me. They are my purpose and my reason for still breathing now. I need them and they need me. We would be lost without each other.
