Please help Brian Buie, his wife Nicole & two teenagers, Noah & Samantha with the extraordinary medical bills associated with cancer treatment & to provide them with a family vacation while Brian is still able to enjoy the time with his family. Brian was first diagnosed with terminal stage 4 colon cancer November of 2014. His cancer had already spread to both his lungs & liver. The masses in his liver are so extensive surgery is not an option nor a transplant. Brian started chemotherapy in January 2015 to attempt to shrink the masses in the liver & prolong his life. He continues to undergo chemotherapy to prolong his life and time with his family.
Unfortunately, all the chemotherapy & radiation has taken a toll on Brian's liver resulting in Cirrhosis of the liver. Cirrhosis of the liver without a transplant itself is deadly. Brian is no longer able to physically work & the process has begun to take a drastic toll on him. Brian will go on full disability beginning in June 2016 to spend as much time as possible with his family.
The family’s health care insurance & grants have covered a large portion of the medical expenses, but it doesn't cover everything. The pump Brian has to have after each chemotherapy treatment is an out of network provider & to date he owes 3k for the pump alone. Yearly out of pocket cost of 1500 just for the pump. Plus several of the tests & cat scans the oncologist orders are not approved with insurance. Those of you who have battled cancer or supported someone you love with cancer know the toll it puts on your body, your mind & even your soul. We all know how the expenses of this awful disease can destroy families. He is one of the strongest people we know & he has valiantly fought this battle to prolong his life to be with his family, watch his son graduate from high school, teach his daughter to drive & all the things we take for granted.
