Missy Buck Hines - Metastatic Mammory Carcinoma

My sister, Missy Buck Hines, is a breast cancer survivor. She experienced radiation and Chemo treatments along with a double mastectomy and reconstruction. She’s been cancer free for four years. Recently Missy was diagnosed with Metastatic Mammory Carcinoma. Her insurance approved her for further testing at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where they found a tumor in the inside of the stomach lining. The cancer is inoperable and something Missy will have to deal with for the rest of her life. During the initial visit, a treatment plan was decided on. The medications will help keep the tumor from growing larger and the cancer from spreading. Although she will be able to continue with her oncologist in Monroe, LA, she will need to be seen by doctors at MD Anderson every three months to make sure the treatment is working properly. The reason I am raising money is because Missy has enough to worry about with trying to stay healthy, this funding will help her continue teaching and lead as normal of a life as possible. I don’t want her worrying about where the money will come from to pay for all that’s entailed with the cancer treatment. It is important to help offset the cost of the medications, additional doctors visits, the travel to and from Houston every three months and the cost of hotel accommodations. Unfortunately her insurance is not paying for as much as she thought - she recently received a bill for $6,300 because they said one of the procedures was experimental. An amount has been included but because there are so many unknowns I wasn’t sure of an exact amount to request. Anything donated will be greatly appreciated.
