Ross’s Gender Confirmation Surgery Fund

This is my son Ross. Ross was born female, and several years ago shared with us that he identifies as male and has felt this way from a very young age. I love my son and, as any mother does, I want him to be happy. I have researched for years ways to help him have “top surgery”, which is removal of the breasts and reconstruction because he needs this to feel comfortable in his skin. I’ve seen my child become severely depressed and anxious that he may never be able to have the surgery he needs to feel genuinely himself. Gender dysphoria is so debilitating that it impacts his life on a daily basis. Ross’s therapist of many years agrees that this is a necessary step for moving forward. I support and validate this need, and after fighting with our insurance for years because they didn’t cover does not cover any type of gender reassignment surgery, ***we’ve discovered that the surgery, which we have to travel out of state (NC to NY) to get, may still cost up to $2500+ out of our pocket deductible (even now that insurance covers part of it) on top of traveling and staying in NY for upwards of 2 weeks! The surgery date was just confirmed for October 30th!*** It’s not very easy to reach out and ask for help, but even as he is a young adult, I would do anything for my child. I’ve created this GoFundMe to give those who want to and are able the opportunity to donate any amount you are comfortable giving. We had to create a new GoFundMe since they limit how long you can run it before you have to duplicate and start over.
