The Pride of East Harlem

With the recent establishment of the East Harlem Pride football program, New York City is now on the map of high school football. The Pride, consisting of Park East High School, Central Park East High School, The Heritage School, Coalition School for Social Change and Eleanor Roosevelt High School, is only the third Manhattan football program. All four schools are located in the heart of East Harlem bringing a sport to a community in which it has never been offered before. We have just concluded our first year as a varsity and junior program. It was a fun and memorable year. We were able to service and provide football experiences to over 50 student-athletes, notch our first ever varsity win in an overtime thriller, and establish a SAT Prep component. As we prepare for our second season, we expect interest of potential players to grow. With the numbers of student-athletes increasing each year means that demand for resources and equipment continues to grow. Unfortunately with the depressed economy and our school budgets suffering major cuts, we are struggling to try to provide the best possible program and resources for our student-athletes.
In these building years of our program it is essential to provide the basic necessities of a football program to our athletes. Our ultimate goal is to provide our student-athletes with the best possible football and high school experience. We are looking for as much help as possible so we can maximally impact the lives of inner city kids we are here to serve. Our goal for this upcoming season is to raise $10,000 in order to successfully operate all aspects of a football program such as equipment, buses, and staffing. By providing a strong, structured football program to the youth of our communities, we, along with your help, will ultimately prepare them for life by teaching them the skills and tools needed to become successful and productive citizens of the world.
