That is Anton and his brother, Sacha a few years back camping somewhere near the Russian River. Simpler times for sure!
My cousin Tom (26) committed suicide Oct 2019, an event which was very much related to his diagnosis of obsessive compulsive disorder which, due to the timing (10'years ago) he did not receive adequate treatment for when it was at its peak roughly ten years ago. OCD is now very treatable and I would like to raise some money to give to Rogers behavioral health who treated my son for the same thing in 2019 and who is doing well. I will be giving 100% of the money raised to Rogers so they can have a bit more money to train therapists like the one who helped my son. I would like to save some parents some pain, save some brother or sister some pain of losing someone like Tom to mental illness. What am I going to do? I am going to ride my bike 1,000,000 vertical feet starting tomorrow (sep 26th 2020) until the beginning of my 50th year (sep 26th 2021) and try get sponsored by some local businesses. I'll be setting up an instagram page with daily photos of the rides and friends that come along. I was going to start a year from now but my friend talked me into starting tomorrow. Should be fun, and for reference i biked 750,000 ft in 2018. 2019 was 500,000 simply because i took Anton to Rogers for 10 weeks partial hospitalization and then the Intensive outpatient program after that for 8 weeks. So no time to ride as we did exposures every night. And if ANY doubters of the efficacy of treatment for mental health get to this page and say "don't believe it" I challenge you to spend 5 minutes with my dead cousin's parents and see what could have been. Or you spend ONE minute observing exposure treatment at Rogers Behavioral Health and you'll never doubt again. Ever. So donate some money.
