We are approaching 2 years of managing Multiple Myeloma. We've learned a lot and had a great deal of ups and downs. Caring Bridge and Facebook have updates if you don't know all the details of this journey. We are now moving to immunotherapy treatment and working with a clinical trial at Mayo Clinic. We appreciate all the help and support! We really can't thank you enough!
Original Post: Kris went to the dermatologist on March 25th to have a cyst on her head examined. Unfortunately, there was more to it than originally thought. As of March 27, Kris has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
Six months of chemo therapy later, and we are at Mayo Clinic for a stem cell transplant. On September 22nd, Kris will undergo an intensive round of chemotherapy. This type of chemo obliterates her immune system, effectively starting her from scratch. She will then receive her stem cells back on 24 September.
Over the next 21 days, Kris is going to be hit with some of the more severe side effects of the chemotherapy - hair loss, sickness, depression, you name it. Her daughter Kylie is staying with her as her full-time caretaker. Kris' sister Holly is joining us next week to help.
The money used from this gofundme will be put towards lodging costs and meals of staying in Rochester for an unknown amount of time - though we're hoping to be headed home by October 23rd.
