25 Hours of Croquet

A couple of us in croquet have decided to raise some funds for Dulwich Sports Club . If this pandemic has taught us anything, it is to look out for others, and that there are many that need funding just as much, if not more. So to make a good cause a great cause we have decided to split everything we raise with St Christophers Hospice .
Over the summer solstice, Guy Scurfield and Peter Haydon will be paying croquet non-stop from midday Saturday June 20th to 1pm Sunday June 21st and we need partners. (Sadly this is only available to club members, who should please contact their section representative)
We are looking for members of the club - from all sections – to team up with either Guy or Peter and become our doubles partners to play with us for an hour at a time. You don’t have to have played before played before, there’ll be plenty of time to teach you as we go! Just bring a bit of enthusiasm, and maybe a bottle of your favourite refreshment, and we’ll supply everything else.
Dulwich Sports Club’s only source of revenue is its members and Covid has meant its revenues have fallen significantly this year. Yet Covid reminds us why the club is special to us. Now, more than ever, it gives us much needed physical activity and positive mental wellbeing and provides a social space to many people who might otherwise not have the support of other people being around.
St Christopher’s Hospice is local to Dulwich and exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality. Like the club, their revenues have also decreased over this period, with many events having been cancelled and, as St Christopher’s is a cause close to Guy and Pete’s hearts, we would like to do a little to help that cause.
It is a fund raiser, so we will ask those that take part to donate and we hope that those who can’t take part will sponsor us to play for 25 hours continuously
