Brain tumor threatens family

Paul Avila has a brain tumor that is literally pushing his left eye out of his socket, the tumor will be removed at Stanford on May 26th. A hole will be literally drilled into the side of his skull to access the tumor to remove it, then a metal plate will be put in place of the bone. If all goes well, if the tumor is benign, if the surgeon is able to get it all, if he does not need radiation treatment, if he doesn’t lose his eye sight, if he doesn’t lose his ability to speak……..so many unknowns. Paul will be unable to work for a minimum of 6 – 8 weeks.

This young family man and his fiancé, Jessica have a 6 month old son, Alan, and a 9 year old son, Nathan. Paul is their family’s sole support.

Paul owns a local barber shop in down town Merced, Valley Cutz. As any small business owner knows, stepping away from your business for any length of time can result in financial ruin. Especially if you have not been given the time to prepare for your absence. But when the choice is your eye sight, your life or your business, you choose life.

The brain tumor alone is enough to derail any family, but with the help of our family, friends and community, together we can keep this family from financial ruin.
