Dental Mission Trip to Africa
Dear friends and family,
Howdy! I hope that everything has been fantastic for each of you! Tyler and I
have been doing great. He is still working for a therapist in Madisonville and
I will be graduating from Blinn Dental Hygiene school in May! I am beyond
blessed to be starting my career in a field that I absolutely love and one that
I am so passionate about! Tyler, Beaux Jangles, Izzy, and I are so happy to
call Aggieland home and plan on staying here after I graduate. (We have really
fallen in love with the area!) The Lord has been doing some incredible work in
our lives!
I am writing to share with you the opportunity God has put in my heart that
will allow me to use the gifts He has graced me with. From June 1 through June
29, I will be going to an orphanage in the community of Bulembu with other
Dental Hygienists and Dentists. Bulembu is on the border that separates South
Africa from Swaziland. In this community, hundreds of children have been orphaned
by the AIDS pandemic. During this 4 week trip, we will be assessing and
treating the children, teachers, and house mothers. Many of these children have
never had any form of dental treatment before and we are so excited to help in
any way we can! We will get to spend a lot of time cleaning teeth and teaching
the children and housemothers how to take care of them so they can continue to
stay healthy after we leave. Other than dental work, we will be helping
children with school work, playing games with them, and leading bible studies.
I believe this opportunity will be a huge blessing to the people in Bulembu,
but I also know this opportunity will bring me closer to the Lord and teach me
so much more! I feel like the Lord has blessed me so much in the past several
years and now it is my chance to finally give back and give Him all the glory!
I would first like to ask for your prayers for safety as we make this very long
trip and that our team can really make a difference. I would also ask that you
pray for my team as a whole and that we grow closer to our Lord! If you feel
like God has placed an interest in your heart to help me fund this trip, that
would be amazing as well! The cost of the trip, which covers my transportation,
housing, and meals, is $3,000. If you would like to financially support me, I
would be so very grateful! My first financial deadline is February 24th and the
final deadline for the full amount is May 19th. All donations are tax
deductible and checks can be made out to Grace Bible Church (my name cannot be
on the check).
I appreciate any and all forms of support and cannot wait
to share this experience with all of you! Please feel free to contact me with
any questions! Also, please add Tyler to your prayer list since he will be supporting
me from the States! J
Sarah Harman
