Mark & Kathi’s dream home destroyed in CZU Fire.
My parents Mark and Kathi Pilgram lost their home last night in the CZU lightning complex fire.
It’s hard to fathom that a home that you’ve worked so hard for, all your life for - can go up in flames and be destroyed in mere minutes. My family has lived in this beautiful home nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the charming town of Boulder Creek for 15+ years.
This was their sanctuary. There was nothing like it. My Dad has put so much work into creating a beautiful oasis throughout the property. Anyone who went to “The Mountain” will remember it for a lifetime. You feel one with the forest in a magical way.
I’ll always remember the rope swing. With a good push over the gorge, you felt like you were flying among the redwoods. Their beautiful babbling brook and pond as the centerpiece. The homemade bocce ball court, and the breathtaking landscape. The beauty of this home is indescribable. My memories of this home overwhelm me.
They had but an hour to evacuate with no idea there was even the possibility. They’ve lost everything. Everything. This year has by far been the most difficult test for all of us, but to now have to rebuild your whole entire life, just seems too cruel to be real.
