New mom fighting breast cancer

Hi everyone, my family and friends of Johanna and Karla are raising money for medical and general expenses for them. Johanna is a student and teacher at the University of Iowa. This year she's had to overcome the stresses of online schooling from a teaching and student perspective like so many others. Johanna was also pregnant with her first baby. This year has brought so many challenges and stressors in the simple pleasures that we take advantage of in normal circumstances. Simple things like being able to go to Dr appts with a loved one. Something that so many pregnant mama's have had to do alone this year. My family and I were overjoyed to have a new baby in our family and so excited. That joy was unfortunately cut short by heavy news. Johanna was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer at 38 weeks into her pregnancy. Her diagnosis forced her into having a medically induced labor at 39 weeks instead of the natural and mindful birth she planned for.  Sweet baby Elina was born on November 12th at 39 weeks. Johanna then started chemotherapy on what would have been her 40th week of pregnancy. Johanna is healing from her birth and now she is fighting breast cancer.  Johanna and Karla are away from home (Texas) but they have built an amazing community of friends in Iowa in which our family is truly grateful for.
