Frankie's Surgery

Hello, everyone. For those of you who know me, you know I have a cat, Frankie. Named so because of his blue eyes and my love of Frank Sinatra. He has been a source of comfort through the darkest and hardest times in my life--in March 2013, we lost our twin daughters half-way through my pregnancy. To say the least, I was destroyed. My heartache didn't stop there, however, three months later, my cat of 13 years developed a brain tumor and I had to make the difficult choice of euthanizing her, a month after that, my grandmother passed away. My husband found Frankie from a cat rescue group and Frankie and I instanty formed a close bond. He was there for me to hold when my arms were empty. A year later, I was pregnant again and placed on strict bedrest at 20 weeks, for the remainder of my pregnancy (another 20 weeks). I was frightened and felt lost. My family did the best they could to cover the hours so that I was not alone at home, but through it all, Frankie was there to comfort me always. He never left my side, purring and  giving unconditional love.

Two days ago, Frankie became sick. I took him to the local vet who told me I had to bring him directly to Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus, NJ. Knowing virtually nothing, I made the hour drive and a ultrasound found that (luckily) Frankie had gallstones and that, depending on the extact situation, either the stones or the entire gallbladder needs to come out. I was relieved that I did not get a report of his impending demise, but my heart sunk when I heard the estimate of the cost of the surgery. Frankie is just about 3 years old and has a very happy and healthy lifetime ahead of him.
