Help me save my only companion

Hi i am a full time college student who has no family and not many friends due to school and working full time. My only true companion i have is my cat Milo. He has been there with me through the loss of my grandparents ,my mom, and other hardships i recently went through. I know many are dealing with hardships of their own due to covid19 and to be honest i dont expect any help but i have to try.
On july 15th someone broke into my apartment through a window and stole a significant amount of my belongings while i was at work. When i returned home and found what had happened i immediately started searching for my cat because i was more worried about him being ok than anything taken. I searched for hours and was not able to find him anywhere.
The next day I had recieved a call back from one of the many humane societies i had called asking if anyone had brought in a cat that looked like him. They had said that nearby a family had called them out of not knowing what they should do about accidentally hitting a cat in their vehicle.
My heart immediately sunk. I guess to some people animals or pets mean more to them than others. Well milo is family to me. I adopted him right when he was old enough to leave his mom and he has been the one rock i have always had in my life.
He is alive but can't leave the vet due to his injuries and currently the vet has told me with the bones he had broken among other injuries including a few deep cuts and internal injury he wont have much more than maybe a month or two left without having surgery to fix these injuries.
I work full time but make only 10$ an hour. I live alone pay all my bills myself all while attending college classes full time. I simply dont have the money to pay for what is needed to be done even if i neglect all my bills etc. I dont know what to do i am supposed to protect and take care of him and in his time of need i cant. My heart is broken and to some he may just be a cat but to me he is literally all i have.
Any help would be highly appreciated and if i make this goal and help him i will have no one to thank but all of you. I hope someone out there comes across this and understands what pet can mean to you. He is only 5 has many years ahead of him hopefully i just cant let it end like this. I didnt qualify for care credit and am out of options ive been selling everything i own to try and raise something but it wont be near enough. Even a dollar will help.
