Richard Cumbee Memorial Fund

As you all know, Richard passed away very suddenly on Easter Sunday. This has been a huge shock to everyone who loves him and will leave a rift we'll feel forever. He was adored by so many people and maintained friendships since childhood. He was the best father Leigh and I could have asked for. He was an amazing husband to Carol and a stellar grandfather (and a great grandfather!) But he was also a hard worker and would do anything for anyone.

Like many people, he wasn't big fan of funerals and preferred to remember people as they were in life. I think that's how he would want you to remember him as well - laughing, cracking (mostly bad) jokes, telling stories about growing up in Virginia, being in the Army, police work or playing games with folks in Cripple Creek.

We have made the decision to memorialize him with a service to the public rather than a traditional funeral. He was a public service employee for decades and we strongly think he would prefer this concept.

You have probably seen these benches in the parks if you're a Pueblo citizen. They're in many of the 82 local parks and we would like to add one. My dad loved the Riverwalk area so we're going to try for there - and otherwise, Mineral Palace Park is another idea. We really think this would be a fitting memory of someone we loved so much.

We are also considering planting a tree in one of the parks as being outside in nature was one of his favourite things.
