Sending Smiles Project

Hello! My name is Kim Taylor, and I live in Charlottesville, Virginia, with my husband, Stuart and my two dogs, Darla and Star. I have two adult children Chelsea and Ian who I'm very proud of.  I enjoy creating art on postcards and sending them through the mail.  Since COVID-19 hit, I have found this hobby especially rewarding.  It's my way of connecting with my friends, family, and now assisted living residents.  Hearing the news that residents in assisted living facilities either can't have visitors or are only allowed limited visitation broke my heart, so I started this project in an effort to spread some smiles. I'm committed to sending 1,000 homemade postcards by year’s end. That’s 250 per month between September and December. The cost is between $4.00- $5.00 per card. The cost includes postcards that I had pre-printed with my return address on them, handmade paper, and embellishments such as; pressed flowers, lace, and fabric. It also includes; glue sticks, Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, glitter, rubber stamps, wax, wax seal stamps, printer ink, paper for printer, and vintage postage. I purchase the products I use from small businesses in the United States when possible. What's not included is my time making the cards as it's a labor of love.  I handwrite the address and a note on each card.  If you would help me cover the cost of supplies by making a contribution, I would be so grateful.
