Mission to Africa 2013
Dear friends and family,
Howdy! I hope all has been well! I am excited to share about the ways the Lord
has been working in my life. In May, I will graduate from Blinn Dental Hygiene
school and be a Registered Dental Hygienist! I am so blessed to have been led
to a career that I am truly passionate about and love. I plan to stay in
College Station, TX and work here after I graduate. College Station has stolen
my heart over the last 7 years of living here while going to school.
I am writing to share with you the opportunity God has provided me to use the
gifts He has given me. From June 1 through June 29, I will be going to an
orphanage in the community of Bulembu with other Dental Hygienists and
Dentists. Bulembu is on the border that separates South Africa from Swaziland.
In this community, hundreds of children have been orphaned by the AIDS
pandemic. During this 4 week trip, we will be assessing and treating the
children, teachers, and house mothers. Many of these children have never had
any form of dental treatment before. We will also spend time teaching the
children and house mothers how to take care of their teeth with brushing and
flossing so they continue to take good care of their teeth when we leave. Other
than dental work, we will be helping children with school work, playing games
with them, and leading bible studies. I believe this opportunity will be a huge
blessing to the people in Bulembu, but I also know I will grow tremendously in
the process.
I would like to specifically ask for you to pray for me and the rest of the
team going with me. Also, please pray that our financial needs are met. The
cost of the trip is $3,000, which covers my transportation, housing, and meals.
If you would like to financially support me, I would be very grateful. My first
financial deadline is February 24th and the final deadline for the full amount
is May 19th. Donations are tax deductible if you would prefer to write a check and they can be made out to
Grace Bible Church (my name cannot be on the check otherwise it will not be tax
deductible).
Feel free to contact me with any questions and I look forward to sharing this
experience with you! Thank you in advance for your prayers and financial
support!
