Dezie's Cancer Fight

Meet Dezie who is a 2 1/2 yr old Goldendoodle who was born with day blindness (can't see in bright light/sunlight but once it is dark she can see perfectly). We adopted Dezie when she was about 5 months old from the wonderful breeder where we got Nikki (Dezie's niece and only 2 days younger than Dezie). We were the perfect fit for her...fenced in yard, not alot of steps, and another dog who could help guide her around the yard, house and on walks. Nikki and Dezie have become more like sisters than aunt and niece...they love to play, sleep and eat together and rarely go anywhere without the other one close by.
In March I noticed a lump on Dezie's rear leg and after the vet examined her along with a xray we did a 30 day round of strong antibotics hoping it was a infection. After 30 days no changes to the lump/xray and scheduled a biopsy which came back as osteosarcoma. We met with an oncologist and had several options laid out to us. We meet with the surgeon next Thursday to determine which option is best for Dezie. Out of the three options the oncologist spoke to us about one was amputating the leg which we are leaning towards.
We are looking to raise money to help us offset some of her upcoming medical bills. We will do anything we can to help Dezie but as a family of 5 with other monetary commitments (2 of 3 kids getting braces, etc) we have to cap what we can cover. The ballpark figure we have heard is anywhere from $2000-$3500 for the amputation. If we don't do the amputation we would still
be looking at surgery either way to remove part of the bone along with a plate for support and chemo and pray there is no infection with the new hardware installed.
We are so blessed to not only have these two wonderul dogs in our lives but the support of our families and our goldendoodle family and any help you can give would be greatly apprecaitive. Will update again after we meet with the surgeon on 5/12.
