Double Lung Transplant Fund

Seven years ago I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis. This is a lung disease that the doctors at Duke University, say I was probably born with. It mimics Asthma. I was in fact diagnosed with Asthma as an infant and treated for it and Allergies from that time forward. There is no cure for this lung disease and Duke is the only facility in the USA that will transplant a patient with this disease. I am 56 yrs old and worked as a Nurse in Research Oncology for many years. I have insurance through my husband's employer, for which I am thankful, but this doesn't cover the cost of a double lung transplant plus all the medications I will be on for the rest of my life. I had to quit working due to my health issues and was put on oxygen 24hrs a day. That cut our income by half, but we have faith that God will see us through this. The total cost for the transplant is one million dollars. Our family members have graciously done a fundraiser on my behalf and for their efforts I will be forever grateful. The cost is overwhelming, but life is worth the struggle.
