Kentville Apartment Fire

On June 19, 2020 I received word that my 18-unit apartment building in Kentville, NS was on fire. There are no injuries or fatalities, but many pets are missing. The fire was likely caused by a leaky propane tank on someone’s balcony barbecue. Unfortunately the fire damaged the building severely, and it is now uninhabitable. Myself and 17 other units (about 50 tenants) are now searching for new places to live and struggling with how to begin to rebuild our lives. Many of us did not have tenants insurance. This fundraiser will go to all the families involved to provide them with whatever they need. The Red Cross has provided some support but not enough for the level of damage the building has suffered. Families are now out of the provided hotel and there are so few rentals available right now. Around 3-4 units appear to be completely burnt and likely structurally unsafe for tenants to enter to retrieve their belongings. The rest of the units are heavily water damaged and suffered from severe smoke damage. All furniture and other possessions are likely unsalvageable. We appreciate any and all support! Please share!
