On June 1, 2020 JAHMEL LEACH , a 16 year old minor child was in custody of the NYPD at the 52nd Precient. After begging for his mother, Officer Kevin Hickey # 17829 along with other officers proceeded to assaulting this minor, denying him a right a call his mother, used a taser on him and striked him three times-once to the right temple of his head. Further, breaking his teeth, and busting his lip. NYPD refused to contact the parent.
JAHMEL was placed in a cell with adults. A call was made at 10:30pm from the doctor at St. Barnabas hospital to his parent requesting permission to medically treat. The mother rushed to the hospital and was told she could not see her child. Nurses allowed the mother in when she started taking pictures, NYPD tried to confiscate her phone. The mother called Yamil Miller, who is the cousin of Jahmel Leach to intervene.
On June 2, 2020 Yamil and mother Daisy Acevedo went to the 52nd Pct. to pick up JAHMEL. The arresting Officer Kevin Hickey #17829 produced JAHMEL to both Daisy Acevedo and Yamil Miller butt naked, stripped of his clothes and shoes. Officer Hickey also stated he was not aware that JAHMEL was a minor because of his height, otherwise he would not have taken him down with the level of force. Officer Hickey also questioned the minor child without a parent, legal guardian, or attorney which violated his civl rights. My family is outraged and want this to be exposed as many minors are violated at the hands of the NYPD. The WHITE officer violated this young black minor. We are mad. Jahmel iPhone was destroyed and now has complications eating and sleeping. He had be relocated from the Bronx to avoid unwanted community pressure.
Jahmel appreciates all the love and support. He has been relocated and every bit of support helps.
The NYPD broke his iphone, and most importantly compromised public trust.
