My name is Vernie Smith and I am 40 yrs old. I am originally from The Bahamas but have been residing in the USA for 11 years. For 4 years now I have been fighting for my life...one sickness after the other!
In 2009 I was hospitalized with pulmonary embolism / congestive heart failure for 18 days; 9 days spent in ICU at Duke Uni Hospital in NC!! After being discharged and home for 2 months, I was re-admitted again to hospital for the same thing for another 13 days!!
I was placed on oxygen 24/7 and have to sleep with a machine at all times. I am also on coumadin/lovenox (blood thinners) daily for blood clots in my lungs and legs. I have been diagnosed with asthma and I have to take breathing treatments as needed.
Doctors suggested I move to a warmer climate so I left NC and relocated to Fl. Life here has been somewhat the same for me. Since living in Fl from May 2012, I have been hospitalized twice and have spent many trips back and forth to the ER!
Presently I don't have any insurance and can't get one because of the daily use of oxygen, and was denied medicaid too. I am asking that you find it in your heart to assist me in raising the necessary funds I need to purchase a portable machine and help with bills that is growing daily as long as I keep the equipment that I have. You assistance also allow me to continue attending my pulmonary specialists.
No matter how small the seed is I am grateful and I know that God will indeed bless you for helping me.
