Hockey Teen Plunges 50 FT Into AZ Mine Shaft

On Friday, May 22 at 6 PM, a horrific accident occurred. Jorden Schoen, my teammate, friend, and someone I consider my brother suffered from a tragedy. While riding an ATV through a guided terrain, Jorden was suddenly dropped 50 feet into an abandoned mine shaft located near Desert Hills Drive and New River Road in the Phoenix Area. This was proceeded by a difficult rescue mission due to the very steep drop and the unknown toxic gases that could have been present. This was conducted by 36 different units and over 100 individual respondents. After successfully getting the ATV flipped over, which was pinning him at the bottom of the plummet, the rescue team got him airlifted to a Level One Trauma Center. Since then, Jorden has been battling through several critical injuries in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Jorden is a hockey player from South Florida. He has been billeting with a family here in Arizona to pursue his hockey dreams (far away from home). He came to AZ in August to play on the Tier1 16U Jr Coyotes, previously playing on the Florida Jr Panthers and the Florida Alliance. After hearing the news of their son, Jorden’s parents have been switching off visiting him because they have another son home in Florida. I am starting this fundraiser in hopes that we can rally together and help Jorden and his family during his fight.
