The Yukon Quest race trail follows historical gold rush and mail delivery dog sled routes from the turn of the 20th Century. Once the transportation highway of the Northern Frontier, the Yukon Quest Trail now will come to life February 13, 2021 with the frosty breath and excited yips of sled dogs raring to go. Sled dog teams consisting of one human musher and 14 trained and conditioned canine athletes tread across some of the last pristine wilderness remaining in North America!
This year is a bit different however. Due to Covid, our border with Canada is closed. We are unable to run the full 1,000 mile race. The Summit Quest 300 is the first 300 miles of the regular Yukon Quest Trail.
We are naming it The Summit Quest 300 due to Rosebud and Eagle Summits. These are two of the highest summits in the whole 1,000 mile race, which mushers must cross in the 300 miles of The Summit Quest 300!
The Yukon Quest is a non-profit organization comprised mostly of volunteers and every year we fundraise in order to meet our financial goals. This is where we need YOUR help! Every dollar raised will go directly into funding the race. To sweeten the deal, we will be posting regular updates and drawing donor names for a chance to win unique Yukon Quest merchandise and memorabilia.
