2021 Senior Cat Rescue Marathon

On Sunday November 7,  I ran the Eighth Annual New York Cat Hospital SENIOR CAT RESCUE MARATHON!

 

SENIOR and SPECIAL-NEEDS CATS remain an underserved and oft-neglected segment of the rescue world.  Far too many are ABANDONED or SURRENDERED at area shelters.  Some are old, some ill, and some simply no longer wanted.  So, tragically countless cats are torn from the only homes they've known and are placed in cages to await probable euthanasia.

 

But with your help we can give these cats a SECOND CHANCE. The dedicated rescue advocates below pull cats from area kill lists, provide vital medical care, and place them in warm and welcoming foster and forever homes. Among them they've saved literally thousands of loving, wonderful cats from a sad and unnecessary end.

 

Pictured above is Megatron (RIP), one such rescue who happily found his way to a loving, forever home (mine!).

 

Following previous solo "Midnight," "Manhattan," "Tri-State," "Manhattan Bridges," and "Five Borough" marathons, this year I participated in the official TCS New York City Marathon as a member of the team from North Shore Animal League. As this is the first time I ran with others..my "winning streak" alas came to an end.

 

All funds raised will be collected by me and distributed to Frankie's Feline Fund (www.frankiesfelinefund.org), Ready for Rescue (www.readyforrescue.org), Paws Crossed Animal Rescue (www.pawscrossedny.org), and North Shore Animal League (www.animalleague.org) — all registered not-for-profit rescue organizations.
