2021 Credit River Cup

Donation protected
We're excited for the 2021 edition of the Credit River Cup and as we did in the first edition, we're looking to raise money for a local charity group. Raising awareness in our community through sport, specifically soccer, is something that Sauga City Collective has been proudly doing since 2017.

Sauga City Collective is honoured to announce that 2021 edition of the Credit River Cup fundraising efforts will be raising money for the local Indigenous Network!

We believe that we can have a positive impact on urban Indigenous youth through the Credit River Cup and honour their heritage as our local game is being played on their traditional land.

The Indigenous Network is located on the Treaty Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe Nation, Huron Wendat and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. They also acknowledge the many First Nations, Métis, Inuit and other global Indigenous peoples who now call Peel Region their home.

The Indigenous Network is a community-based, non-profit, registered charity whose mission is to provide programs and services to address the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical needs of the Urban Indigenous population of Mississauga and neighbouring regions. Through a supportive social network and culturally appropriate programs and services Indigenous, peoples will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen a sense of community in Mississauga.

The Indigenous Network’s Guiding Principles are based on the Seven Grandfather Teachings from the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi – Love, respect, bravery, truth, honesty, humility and wisdom.

About the Credit River Cup

Founded in 2019, the Credit River Cup was established by Mississauga soccer supporters as part of our mission to grow local soccer at all levels. We believe the talent produced by our city is among the best in the country and many have gone on to represent Canada at the national level. With that in mind, our goal is to create a legacy that is exclusively Mississauga, a tradition that the supporters of our city can rally behind every year.

The inaugural tournament in 2019 saw North Mississauga SC (NMSC) lifting the trophy over city rivals Sigma FC and ProStars FC, cementing their victory with a hat-trick performance from Adel Rahman. As part of the competition, $1,000 was raised for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel through initiatives that included a Co-Founder program that allowed supporters to have their names engraved on the Credit River Cup.

In 2021, the Credit River Cup returns as a two-legged series between Sauga City Derby rivals Sigma FC and NMSC. Sigma FC heads into the second leg with the advantage, having beaten NMSC 2-1 in the opening leg on August 13th. The second match of the competition will be played Thursday, October 7th at Paramount Fine Foods Centre Fields in Mississauga and all are welcome to attend. For more information follow the Credit River Cup on social media @CreditRiverCup.

All funds raised, minus the cost of producing the CRC branded bag, will be donated to TIN
