2019 Atlanta Fringe Festival

7th Annual Atlanta Fringe Festival
Bringing Independent Artists from the Fringe to the Main Stage

The Atlanta Fringe Festival (June 3-9, 2019) connects self-producing theatre artists who otherwise may not be able to produce their work to people looking for unique, interesting, fulfilling artistic experiences. We remove logistical and financial barriers to performing and keep the threshold to participation low (for audiences and artists). How do we make Fringe accessible for artists and audiences alike? Support from folks like you! We need to raise $10,000 in the next 4 weeks, to make sure we can cover all our upfront costs before the festival begins in June. Please help us reach our goal by Saturday, April 27, 2019.

What's new in 2019?

MOAR Stages!
We’ve added a new venue to the mix so we can bring you more artists. For ticketed performances, we’ll have 6 stages across the Little 5 Points and Poncey Highlands neighborhoods of Atlanta.

MOAR Shows!
We’ve increased the number of productions we’re featuring. We'll host 23 performing arts groups coming from all across Georgia and 8 other states. We’ve also added more audio shows to our free online Fringe Audio program that runs concurrent with ticketed shows. We'll feature a record 31 (!) recorded stories and radio plays on our website, available to stream for free around the world.

MOAR Free stuff!
We’re setting up camp in Springvale Park Friday through Sunday of festival week to bring you free and family-friendly performances and arts ‘n’ crafts. Potential acts include circus, puppetry, singers and more. There will be something fun for people of ALL ages!

What can your donation do?
We’ll use your gift to cover all manner of expenses from box office supplies to production equipment, advertising to program printing, insurance to venue rental fees. Here’s an idea of what your gift can help us accomplish:
$25 covers for 1 day’s worth of digital ads
$75 covers craft supplies for a kids’ activity at Free Fringe
$150 covers 1 Free Fringe artist stipend or 1 mo. insurance premium
$500 covers a postcard campaign or a stipend for 1 admin staff person
$1,000 covers 4 cash awards given to artists or 1 venue rental fee

The $10,000 goal for this campaign will only cover 13% of our total expenses for the festival, but it is crucial to it's success. Please donate today to help bring one-of-a-kind new theatre to Atlanta!

What is Fringe?
Fringe is a smorgasbord of performing arts. Fringe Festivals exist in cities across the country and around the globe. Fringe is theatre, dance, circus, drama, comedy, burlesque, puppetry, aerial arts, one-person shows, clown shows, shows that makes us think, shows that make us ask questions, shows that push the boundaries, shows that push our buttons, shows that make us laugh and cry and sigh and ask WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS??

The Impact
Fringe provides a way for audiences to experience something new, at the low, low price of free to $20 per ticket! Since our first festival in 2012, we have served free and ticketed programs to more than 20,000 people!

The Atlanta Fringe Festival provides an accessible platform for self-producing artists to present their work to audiences they may not otherwise be able to reach. This festival removes financial and logistical barriers to performance. Artists also KEEP 85% of their ticket sales. By ensuring fair compensation, we allow them the chance to make their art their business. Since the festival’s inception, we have paid out nearly $50,000 in ticket revenue to about 120 performance groups comprised of nearly 600 artists from across the country.

Artists participate in Fringe for a fraction of what it would cost to produce on their own. Imagine renting and staffing a theatre for a whole week! Financial and logistical barriers prevent many artists from producing new work; but during Fringe, we take care venue rentals, production equipment, technicians, box office staff, ticketing services, and marketing for the festival as a whole. This leaves the artists free to create.

We need YOU to keep production and ticket costs low and impact high!

All donors  giving $25 or more will be acknowledged on our website (atlantafringe.org).  Atlanta Fringe Festival is produced under a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization; all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
