200 miles for Bend Lacrosse

My Personal BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal)
After a few years away from the ultrarunning scene, I decided that 2018 was the year to jump back in, so I signed up for the Tahoe 200-miler in September. I've run a few 100 milers and shorter ultras, but I can't even wrap my mind around what it will take to complete 200 miles...which is why this distance is so intriguing. The one thing I know for sure is that adversity will be a given.
So why do it?
I truly believe that engaging in challenging experiences can teach us life lessons that are impossible to learn elsewhere. And as the Head Coach for the Bend Varsity Lacrosse team, I spend a fair amount of time talking with my players about dealing with adversity in practice, in games, and more importantly, in life. So instead of just talking about adversity, I'm going to immerse myself in it with the goal of benefiting our Bend Lacrosse Booster Club . Lacrosse is not a sanctioned High School sport in the state of Oregon, so our kids have to 'pay to play' while our Booster Club tries to offset as much of the cost as possible to operate the program. Lacrosse has been a part of my life for over 30 years. I've learned a lot from playing and coaching the sport, and I've made lifelong friends through those experiences. I would hate to see a boy or girl not have the opportunity to play the game because they cannot afford it. So simply stated, this fundraiser is all about getting outside my comfort zone while raising money to support our Bend Lacrosse program.
100% of the funds raised will go directly to our nonprofit organization to pay for the operating costs associated with our program while continuing to build and scale it for our Youth and High School players.
