20,000 Notebooks in One Month!

Donation protected
For the children in remote Philippine villages, new notebooks at the beginning of the school year are a priceless treasure. We, the volunteers of “Ambit”, have a daring goal in our fifth year to sponsor 20,000 notebooks and to add yet another far-flung rural community to the group we have already helped since 2014. Thank you for taking time to review our "photo-essay" here.  Our annual notebook distribution has been made possible entirely because of the kindness of donors like you!

Ambit means “Sharing” in the Ilonggo language spoken by people in the Western Visayas, Philippines. Ambit is a non-profit, non-sectarian and non-political charity activity of Friends of Niall O’Brien charity organization.

Our passion is to inspire and encourage young students to strive for a better community and brighter future. Ambit dares to raise the flag of hope in places where hope is as elusive as the people’s next meal.

For every set of notebooks that a child receives, Ambit ensures that a tree is planted by the child as “payment” for the trees that provided his or her notebooks. Through this hands-on activity children participate in responsible stewardship and a sense of pride, doing their part instead of just receiving a hand-out.

During the days of each notebook distribution, volunteers from Philippine National Red Cross give a seminar and training on personal hygiene, basic home remedies and first aid. For many in the villages, this is the only instruction they will receive in order to better care for their families.

For children to reach their full potential it is imperative that they grow up in a loving and nurturing environment. During every notebook distribution activity, volunteers with counseling and child psychology backgrounds give parenting talks/seminars to the parents of our beneficiaries. Families are helped in so many ways when Ambit comes to their area!

To date, Ambit has distributed 27,000 notebooks to 3,200 grade school and high school students of its adopted communities in the towns of Hinobaan and Candoni, province of Negros Occidental, from its beginnings in the year 2014.

Thank you for considering a gift to help expand our impact. At a cost of ten Philippine pesos each, notebooks alone will total $4,000 US dollars. There is also the expense of transporting these heavy materials to the remote villages and very simple meals for our volunteers during the trips. Your donation will help us make 2018 our biggest outreach year ever, with our goal of distributing 20,000 notebooks to a total of five rural communities.  We are so grateful, and the children are the happiest of all! God bless you for your generosity!
