Rebecca goes to Paris!
I have decided to study abroad this
summer in Paris, France. My trip will be operated under the University System
of Georgia. The program will last for 5 weeks, from June 30th to
August 4th. I will be taking classes for 6 credit hours at the Institut
Protestant De Théologie. I chose to participate in the study abroad program
because it will add a distinguishing factor to my resume, which can increase
the likelihood of acceptance to graduate school and future employment
prospects. My schedule will include Monday and Wednesday classes, along with
Tuesday and Thursday field trips and tours associated with my classes. This
leaves Fridays through Sundays as "free days" to explore Paris, the rest of
France, and the neighboring countries such as Spain and Italy.
As I'm sure you know, studying
abroad is very expensive and I will have to raise a lot of money for this to be
possible. The cost of the trip is $4,990, which includes round-trip airfare between
Atlanta and Paris, housing in France, five meals per week, a health insurance
policy, and a pass for unlimited travel on the Paris Metro and bus systems. It
is strongly suggested that students also bring about $1,000 spending money for
meals, souvenirs, tours, and day trips. I have already received a scholarship
for $850 and I am currently looking and applying for more scholarships.
However, my deadlines are rapidly approaching, the first being March 8th
and the second being April 8th.
So what I am asking is if you all
could contribute monetary donations towards my trip. Anything will help and would be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Rebecca Powers
