Our Battle With Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected
On October 22nd, 2019 we received the most shocking and devastating news of our lives. Jennifer has Stage 4 colorectal cancer. She started having pain in her rectum on November 2018. We thought it was related to the rectal bleeding that she has had on and off for the past 10 years from the chronic constipation she’s had since she was a child, however, none of her doctors seemed concerned about the bleeding, so we weren’t too worried about this pain either. It gradually got worse and by January the pain was again bad. Assuming an infection could be involved we handled it with natural antibiotics, which immediately lessened the pain over the next few months and by Spring Jennifer was almost feeling normal again.

By the end of summer the pain came back and this time it was worse, deeper and not responding to the same remedies used before. Cancer was not even on our radar, being only 39 years old and having a healthy plant-based lifestyle since her early 20s. Jennifer had a TIA (mini stroke) In September. We realized it could be something more serious and made an appointment with a gastroenterologist. Upon having a colonoscopy, we were given the news. The biopsy and MRI‘s/CT’s confirmed it was stage four cancer in the rectum with five affected lymph nodes.

Caregiving and nursing for Jennifer immediately became her husband’s (Gabe) full time job. “We have been implementing any natural therapies to reverse the cancer and have seen some positive results. However, due to the severity and advance nature of Jennifers cancer we are in need of more immediate intensive treatment. Jennifer suffers pain 24/7 which prevents her from being able to sleep at all through the night. She has dropped over 30 pounds and must get her pain under control to prevent further sleep deprivation and weight loss.”

We are currently seeking treatment at Brio-Medical, and alternative cancer clinic in Scottsdale Arizona which offers an impressive range of cutting edge, anti-pain, anti-cancer therapies. However the program is not covered by insurance and with both of us being self-employed we haven’t been able to work since Fall 2019. Brio reports a success rate of patients going into remission of 65-70%, versus 12% with traditional methods.

We are deeply appreciative for all help with these expenses at this critical time.

Sincerely with gratitude , Gabriel and Jennifer Arruda
