Help Andre and Marga

Andre has been battling appendix/colon cancer for the last three years that has spread to his liver and spine. He has recently spent several weeks at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore, and undergone some difficult procedures.  He is at home now, recovering and gaining strength to be able to receive more aggressive chemotherapy. We are really hoping that this new round of chemotherapy will shrink the tumors and allow him to eat regular food and get stronger to continue to fight the battle against this terrible illness. There are three tumors pressing against his spinal cord and he is less able to walk each day and going up and down the stairs to get to the bedroom or the full bathroom is quite a challenge. We were advised to install  a stair-lift chair so that he can go up and down easily. The chair has already been purchased and installed and he is now able to safely go up and down the stairs. In addition we continue to have extra medical bills right now and more copayment for all 15 different medications he takes daily and weekly. The cost of this illness is astronomical and also constant. Andre is also getting less income coming in as he is now on disability. It is so sad that in circumstances like this where your full energy should be focused towards fighting the illness and staying optimistic, you have to be worried about paying bills, having yet extra bills or simply being able to get paid from work because the system does not make it easy for you. If you want to help us, it will be certainly appreciated and we will be forever grateful. In addition, once Andre gains strength and the equipment is no longer necessary at home, it can be donated to veterans unable to pay for this or organizations that help low income elderly in need. We are not eligible for donations because Andre is not a veteran and he is “not old enough” to qualify either.  So you see, if you help us with this, your money  you will end up helping another cause afterwards!
