Cancer Treatment

My name is Justin Mills, I’m a United States Marine, and I have Stage ll Cancer. For those of you who know me, you understand I went through hard times when I was 15-16 years old. Removing a benign tumor from my lower left mandible (jaw) that was about the size of a golf ball by the end of it. The surgery took place on my 16th birthday back in 2016. Constant X-rays, scanning, and imaging has been done leading up to the surgery, and ever since. Due to the constant radiation supposedly, I have now formed a cancerous nodule 2.2 cm large on the left side of my thyroid. I found this information out on 12/24/2019, on Christmas Eve, and decided not to tell my family, friends, or other loved ones. I wanted Christmas to be about Christmas and not about me. Currently, it is unknown whether it has spread to all my lymphnodes or not, I have a CT scan in January to determine this. We know it is in at least one right above the thyroid and under the chin. Regardless if it is in all the lymphnodes or not, moving forward I will be getting a total thyroidectomy. Completely removing my thyroid from the neck area, which basically controls and regulates hormones. With this body part removed I will be on medication for the rest of my life to supply hormones and other necessities produced from the thyroid area. My calcium glands that rest of the thyroid are at risk of dying, and my voice box is at risk of being “horse” for the rest of my life. This is horrific news, but the bright side is it doesn’t sound like I’m going to die, and I don’t plan on it either. I will most likely be medically separated from the Marine Corp, hopefully not, but the odds are not in my favor. My whole life all I wanted to do is be in the Corp, and it hurts to only be in for such a short time.. Just with the information we have now, the thyroidectomy alone will be a huge surgery and a huge cost. Money I do not currently have, or anticipate my military insurance to cover (Due to me being in the Reserves). It pains me that it has to come to this, but any amount helps. I’m mainly asking for your support through these times. For you to spread the my story and prayers. For me not to have cancer in my lymphnodes or anywhere else in my body. If I get any amount of the funding goal I will be absolutely amazed, appreciative, grateful, and blessed. I will keep everyone updated as we go along this process and I appreciate everyone.
