Who is Cap'n Dan?
Cap'n Dan is my father who was diagnosed with CML in 2007. Fortunately he was able to manage his CML with Gleevec until around 2014 when his CML became resistant. From 2014-current day he has been through all of the list of medications used to treat his CML, as well as undergoing treatment for both Thyroid Cancer and Rectal Cancer in 2015. He was finally approved for a Stem Cell transplant this fall to treat his CML. His brother David was a 100% match and he has since been undergoing chemo and gotten the transplant on December 24th.
Why he needs your help?
Although we have been fortunate enough to have been gifted an apartment for my parents to stay in close to the hospital and insurance will cover many of the costs associated with his treatment, the annual out of pocket medical costs will be around $7,000. Cap'n Dan is expected to be out of work for the next 6 months to a year due to his compromised immune system and recovery time. There may also be unforeseen expenses and places that Jenn would like to take him if he is feeling up to it.
We are looking to you for help with this in any way you can. If you are unable to donate, there are plenty of other ways to help. You can reach out to Danielle directly to coordinate. Please feel free to share the link to our GoFundMe with your friends if you would like to. Thank you to everyone who is helping and has helped us on this journey. Love from Cap'n Dan and the family!
