Rest In Peace

Damaris is a disabled US Navy veteran. She is on VA disability. She is also a volunteer as a peer mentor for veterans in our community. Damaris has been caring for her sister who was fighting cancer for over four years. In the last year she has been helping her sister and her mother while they fight cancer. Damaris would literally go from one hospital to another when both of them were hospitalized in different hospitals at the same time. There was a lot of hope when her sister was accepted for an experimental drug trial. At the end, her sister was not able to recover. Her sister died in November 2019 and her mother recently died in December 2019. Damaris was able to afford to pay for her sister’s burial arrangements with the help of extended family. Within a month of her sister’s death she has lost her mother. We are trying to help Damaris have a memorial service for her sister and her mother. She has out of pocket expenses for caring for her sister and mother; she also has to clear out her mother and sister’s apartment that they shared, and she has to pay for cremation for her mother. We are asking for support for Damaris. Any amount would help.
