The sweet picture you are seeing if of my strong, determined loving, caring, giving sister-in-law Lynn Coan and her brand new grand-daughter Amelia. This is the very first time Lynn got to hold Amelia, since this little bundle of joy lives with her parents in Colorado, hundreds of miles away from Lynn, residing in Jamestown NY. Lynn feared she would never get to see or hold this sweet baby girl because she is in the battle of her life. You see over 18 months ago Lynn was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (its everywhere throughout her body), and given only 6 to 12 months to live.
Lynn is happily married to the love of her life, Tim, my brother and was living an active, successful life with a fulfilling career when this horrible diagnosis destroyed all of her hopes and dreams for the future. See, it was only 6 years ago that she lost her best friend, her mother to cancer and now she is facing the reality of her own mortality.
Tim, Lynn's husband, my brother has been disabled for years, he broke his back while at work. He is in pain much of his day but loves to work in his flower beds and finds great enjoyment in watching things grow....Lynn and Tim have been going through what many would refer to as hell, to them they are doing all they can to keep Lynn healthy and living. His only means of income is social security disability.
After Lynn's diagnoses she worked as long as she could but the chemo treatments made her weak, tired and sick, so she decided it was time to retire from her job so she could spend the rest of her time on this earth with the people she loved and cared about the most. Prior to giving her retirement notice Lynn sat down and did the math based on her diagnoses and thought she had all their financial needs figured out, never expecting to outlive her prognosis. Our family and friends all gathered together and organized a benefit dinner in hopes to raise money to help with medical and travel expenses that wouldn't be covered under Lynn's medical insurance. The benefit was a great success, Tim and Lynn were blessed and grateful beyond words. That benefit took place 16 months ago.
Prayers have been answered and Lynn's prognosis of 6 to 12 months has passed, Lynn is very much with us...Not giving up, fighting this battle and not backing off and all of us that love her so very much feel so blessed to still have our Lynn in our lives. Her hair has thined and turned curly, she is tired, teary and has little energy but she is here..........Her cancer has grown some in her lung but the doctor tells us she is "stable", still responding well to her treatments.
LYNN'S NEW BATTLE - SHE DESPERATLY NEEDS YOUR HELP
Because Lynn has survived past her prognois she is now faced with losing her medical insurance and will not be eligable for Medicaid until March of 2015. In April of 2014 Lynn will lose her current Medical coverage.
After days and hours of searching for new coverage through our new Obama Care system the best comparable coverage she has been able to find is going to cost them $880.00 a month. $880 a month that Lynn and Tim can not squeeze out of their small household income. What would they have to go without just to try to pay this premium, food, their trips to club to see the people that love and support them, rides in the car, haircuts, magazines, movies, new flowers and plants for the garden, cookouts with their family and friends, that final trip to see her beautiful grand daughter one last time.....Tim and Lynn are simple people that love and cherish the simple things in life. Lynn is going to leave us someday, way too soon, why should she spend her last few precious days or months in this life saving pennies and not being able to enjoy what little life she has left because they are struggling to pay that high premium each month along with fighting to keep the cancer at bay.
PLEASE help Lynn and Tim by donating to this campaign so they can truly live life these final days as fully as they can...I can tell you our Lynn and Tim are struggling emotionally and financially and are quit uncomfortable with me putting this campaign together for them, yet it needs to be brought forward- these two need HELP, our help.
My hope is all of Lynn and Tim's family, friends, along with complete strangers will join together to raise the money needed. Please help give Lynn the peace she deserves and the security in knowing she will still be able to receive the treatments and care she has been receiving from Roswell Cancer Institute.
Let's raise enough money to pay their insurance premiums for one full year, until Lynn becomes eligable for Medicaid in March of 2015.
And Let's continue to pray for a miracle, the miracle of remission. The miracle of God's healing so Lynn can be cancer FREE.........
