FAUX's Laptop Or Tablet Upgrade
FAUX and I are planning to attend Aurora-Con in May, a tiny little comicon waayyy up north in a small town of very enthusiastic nerds. Aurora-Con is actually hosted and run by the high school, and when we went last year these earnest kids captured our hearts with their passion for D&D. One kid actually came up and talked to FAUX for most of an afternoon asking for advice on how to DM. He and his friends wanted to play D&D sooooo badly, but none of them even knew how to start. FAUX has been wanting to go back to Aurora-Con since the day we left, and this week we received our invitations.

Last year FAUX took his laptop to Aurora-Con, hooked it up to a large monitor, and just drew on his tablet, live, before an enraptured audience of young teenager artists. One after another they'd stand and watch and ask a thousand questions and then wander off to find a friend to come and watch too. FAUX opened their eyes to digital art, and began building real relationships with those kids in the middle of that busy hall. Because he took time for them.

Most (if not all) of you are aware of where FAUX has been at lately with his mental health. Unfortunately, this has meant he's been off work for quite a while as he works through what's come up. Last summer, shortly after Aurora-Con, the graphics processor portion of the motherboard on his laptop stopped working. He's been hoping to save up some money for a new portable art option, but with needing to take so much time of work to heal, that's not going to be something he can manage.

I've started this GoFundMe campaign in hopes that you guys would be willing to support this community-building passion that FAUX has. Authenticity is a gift, and being able to share his truest self with these shy and nervous but highly creative teenagers is beautiful.

We have a specific laptop (Lenovo Yoga C930 14" with a 1T ssd) picked out for this campaign. The price tag on it is about $1650 USD but we've also got an extended goal of $3500 USD (a Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16" tablet) that I would love for us to be able to surprise him with.
