Please Help KENDRA CULVER CORNELIUS

This was written by Kendra’s sister, Betsy: Our sister Kendra Culver Cornelius was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in Sept of 2014. ALS is a progressive neurode degenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. It is a debilitating disease with no cure. Kendra can’t walk and has limited use of her arms and hands. She can’t do any basic tasks alone. She does have the help of her children Alexis and Nathan. She also is working on getting some outside help. She has contacted groups for help and has an advocate but this help is slow and limited. Her needs are the basics. She needs a few repairs to her home but also a few modifications. She needs one bathroom that can accommodate whoever is helping her get her bath and to assist her in using the bathroom. She needs a few doors widened, etc. And she also needs a light weight scooter or electric wheelchair to be able to transport her to appointments because no one has a vehicle she can drive into. This disease is overwhelming. None of us really know what to do so we are turning to ask for your help. Kendra could also use visits and maybe occasional meals.
