Hudson Valley Nurses Stop The Bleed

Join the efforts of the dedicated nurses of the Hudson Valley to STOP THE BLEED. STOP THE BLEED was created by the Department of Homeland Security and the American College of Surgeons in response to mass shootings and life threatening bleeds. My name is Krissy Cahill and I’m leading this effort and joined by some the most passionate nurses in Dutchess County and the surrounding area. This Go Fund Me is to raise money for the training tools needed to teach the community how to control massive bleeds. This initiative started with a conversation between myself and a local high school principal. This high school has already purchased tourniquets that are stored with their AEDs, however, it would be prudent to offer STOP THE BLEED skills education to the staff. Our goal is to teach willing participants in our regional schools how to save lives by providing instruction on proper tourniquet application and other bleed scenarios. One complete training kit costs $950 and I’d like additional funds to purchase additional training tourniquets. The significance of a Go Fund Me is to gather substantial community support where a potentially politically charged environment may get in the way of teaching lifesaving skills. Community led, not imposed by one. A robust fundraiser would hopefully show support of LIFESAVING education, regardless of one’s position on gun control. Training kits essentially purchased by the community, will allow us the portability of this program to be taught in the Hudson Valley, wherever the interest and need arise. Our goal is to start in interested school districts and then to wherever the interest arises. My goal is to also utilize the skills and DONATED time of our areas best nurses to provide this training.
