Help Ren Get Healthy Again

Donation protected
Meet Ren, a cat who even after experiencing a terrible beginning to his life remains curious, playful, and affectionate as can be. He was born into a hoarding situation, and by the time he arrived at the ASPCA at the age of 4 months old, his eye was terribly infected and needed to be removed. His first weeks with us were spent being force fed medications he needed to heal properly. We adopted him and his sister Verdi from the ASPCA in August. The ASPCA had told us that both of them were cleared of any type of diseases or conditions but sadly that may not be the case. Two days ago Ren completely lost his ability to walk straight or jump. He wobbles everywhere, falls even while just sitting, and can't even use the litterbox without falling over. Our once playful and loving lapcat has traded relaxing on my lap and sleeping in our bed to relaxing in the middle of the floor and sleeping on the couch because once he sits down any type of disturbance seems to make him sick. Our first visit to the vet cost us $500 with some results but they insisted we take him to the hospital. The itemized list there was much less modest, totaling over $2500. As fresh college graduates with student loans, our savings were depleted and then some because not doing everything we could for Ren was not an option. The possibilities the doctors are considering now are FIV, feline leukemia, FIP, an intestinal blockage, or even just an ear infection. The bills were paid and the doctors are doing what they can to keep him comfortable and safe while they figure out what the issue is, but now we've been left with nothing and aren't even guaranteed that he'll make it. When we got home from the vet his sister Verdi refused to leave our side. Typically introverted, she scoured the house looking for where her brother had gone even though it had only been a few hours. The possibility of us losing Ren is heartbreaking enough, but the thought of her losing him is just as bad. We will be doing anything and everything we can to pay these bills so any amount contributed is greatly appreciated by all of us. itemized list of hospital bill: ------- examination emergency after hours: $70 catheter IV: $125 Hospitalization/nursing care ICU 2: $633 Fluid therapy: $210 Siemens blood gas: $147 FeLV/FIV snap test: $180.75 IDEX Toxoplasma Titers: $232.75 Clindamycin 25mg/OralSusp 20ml: $13.22 Cerenia 10mg: $56.70 Consultation: $210 Miscellaneous: $150
