Joey's Life Saving Neck Surgery

Joey is an inspiration! He was brought to a vet clinic to be euthanized because Joey was completely paralyzed. The vets offered the owner a different solution....to let Joey come into ASDR care who, along with them, would give him second chance at life.
Joey has vertebral sub-luxation, meaning that he has a deformaty in his spinal alignment. The vets fitted Joey with a neck brace and sent him into foster care warning that he may not make it through the next days/weeks and that he may be forever paralyzed. The incredible happened though....one day after being fitted with the neck brace Joey was sitting,walking,eating, peeing and pooping all on his own!! This was amazing.
Joey has had his neck brace on for 5 weeks now and he is a typical active little puppy. The hopes were that the neck brace would support him while giving his body the chance to heal his problem but after x-rays it has been confirmed that the brace is not enough. He needs major surgery. This surgery is not without risk. It is a delicate surgery that will be done on his spine and there is a chance of permanent paralysis or death but it is necessary. For living with a neck brace for the rest of his life is not an option.
Joey's specialized surgery is going to be expensive but ASDR and their generous supporters have never let cost come before care.
